Discussion:
LinkSubmit component

I too have a component I would like to commit shortly - LinkSubmit. This
component is a combination of a Link and a Submit (hence the name), allowing
you to submit an enclosing form using a link, rather than a button/image by
using a hidden field and a href javascript function. The code I've attached
is located in contrib - just as a test location. I have not added the
exception strings yet - where the actual messages go will depend on its
resting place. My preference is for this to live in the framework, rather
than contrib. I'd like it to be in 2.3 also. But I have not written tests
for it yet, and may not get a chance to before next year. Any thoughts?

Hi Richard,

I think as this a specialized component it should probably live in contrib.
I think I should also move MaskEdit into contrib as well for the same
reasons.

The contrib library stuff is now listed in the Component Reference so they
have more visibility than they used to.

p.s. your component looks very handy

Actually, I reckon a link that submits a form is actually pretty generic -
right up there with an image that submits a form. Hence my preference for
the framework.

Just to clarify the name (had this discussion with Howard earlier) -
"LinkSubmit" follows the ImageSubmit convention. This component is a
primarily a form component, and does not use AbstractServiceLink or its
subclasses at all. It tries its best to act just like a Submit/ImageSubmit
component...
